One of the first decisions you'll make when booking your organic spray tan is which development formula to choose: Classic or Rapid. Both use the same naturally derived DHA and deliver a genuine, natural-looking result — the real difference comes down to timing, and which timing fits your day.

How Classic Works

Classic is our 8-hour development formula. You rinse once, 8 hours after your appointment, for the complete result — no earlier decision-making required. This is the more traditional spray tan experience, and it's a good fit if you'd rather book your appointment and not think about timing again until that evening's rinse.

How Rapid Works

Rapid is our 4-hour formula, but the real advantage is that the rinse window is flexible — you can rinse anywhere between 2 and 4 hours depending on how deep you want the color. Rinsing closer to 2 hours produces a lighter, more natural result; waiting closer to the full 4 hours produces deeper color. This makes Rapid a good fit for same-day plans, since you have more control over exactly when you're done with the process.

Which One Should You Choose?
  • Choose Classic if you'd rather set it and forget it — one rinse time, no decisions.
  • Choose Rapid if you have same-day evening plans and want a shorter commitment.
  • Choose Rapid if you want more control over exactly how deep your color develops.
  • Either formula works well for first-timers — Classic simply removes one decision point.

Does One Last Longer Than the Other?

Not meaningfully. Both formulas typically last a similar 5 to 7 days with proper aftercare. Longevity has much more to do with how you care for your skin afterward — hydration, gentle cleansing, avoiding chlorine and harsh exfoliation — than which development formula you originally chose. Using Shower Glow DHA-safe body wash ($18.99) and Skin Glow tan extender ($18.99) supports even fading regardless of which formula you pick. See our complete aftercare guide for the full routine.

Neither formula is objectively better — the right choice depends entirely on what your next 8 hours look like.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Classic and Rapid?
Classic develops over 8 hours with a fixed rinse time. Rapid develops over 2 to 4 hours with an adjustable rinse window for lighter or deeper color.
Which formula lasts longer?
Both typically last 5 to 7 days with proper aftercare — longevity depends more on skin care afterward than which formula was used.
Can I choose how dark my Rapid tan is?
Yes — rinsing earlier in the 2-4 hour window produces lighter color, while waiting closer to 4 hours produces deeper color.
Which formula should first-time clients choose?
Many first-timers choose Classic for its single fixed rinse point, though Rapid works well for anyone with same-day plans.
